Lolita & Diptyque.

This morning I woke up early and decided I wanted to create a piece of art for the baby's room from what I think is the best opening of any book I have ever read. Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita's syntax is faultless. I'm going to get the opening printed on parchment and then framed in a white frame. I understand it's probably (context wise) not the best opener (given the book is highly controversial for its nymphette obsession) for my baby - however, if our child is to grow up with a passion for literature like its mother, then there really is no better time to instill this.

After playing with fonts, I went to the obstetrician, where everything is looking perfect - so we can expect to meet the little one within the next week or so.

I did splurge on one item from Mecca Cosmetica after my appointment, Diptyque Gardenia (the room spray) is so beautiful, it literally makes each and every room smell like a meadow. I'd highly recommend it.

  1. I love this opening passage so much, Lo Lee Ta. Will have to show you a scene from an Italian movie I like with him reading it to his girlfriend, beautiful.

    1. Jeremy Irons apparently does an amazing reading of it that I am yet to listen to, but you can imagine his voice would be incredible. xA
